Brennan had a long career as both an actor/performer/director and teacher in New York City and around the USA. He received his MFA in Acting from the Yale School of Drama and a Postgraduate Degree in Voice Studies and from London's Royal Central School of Speech and Drama where he was awarded the mark of Distinction in Teaching. As a professional actor, Mr. Murphy has performed in stage productions, commercials, numerous workshops of new plays, and several experimental venues. On Broadway, he was a featured actor in Angela Lansbury's revival of Mame, the critically acclaimed Hal Prince/NYC Opera production of Candide, as well as Take Me Along, the musical version of Eugene O'Neill's classic, Ah, Wilderness! Also, he is a founding member of two of New York City's experimental theatre companies: Cucaracha Theatre and the Gertrude Stein Repertory Theatre. Previous to this, Brennan was a professional dancer performing with New York's Joffrey II Dancers and the New York City Opera Ballet. As an educator, he has taught acting and voice at New York City's Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting, University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign, Cal State University: Sacramento, Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle University, and at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He now is the Head of the BFA Acting program at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. Brennan became a Designated Linklater Teacher in August of 2017 and has continued his work at the Voice Center in Orkney, Scotland.
